What is there in designing a blog?

A relation of mine and a vociferous reader of my blogs asked me as to how I make changes in the look of my blog posts and why so frequently. In fact every blog post has its own personality and the very get up of it speaks volumes for itself. I have been changing the look of my blogs off and on with a view to keep it not only feasibly legible but also from the view point of its impact on the readers who normally prefer a well knit display of the contents. Some of the people might take it as an exercise of a cynic but there are many who never relish a stagnant sort of a style with a fixed getup. This too is a reason for me to keep changing the very look of a post from time to time to match the taste and inclination of the readers. While going through the posts of my followers I very often observe that some of them are so clumsy to the point of a boredom that the readers do the surfing merely as a ritual sans much of an interest. A well drafted writeup wearing a look of neatness is what interests a reader and this feature always warrants to be adhered to, more so when the blog is soothingly well designed, hence this awesome exercise. Hopefully this matches the taste of my valued readers.

Pages on a blog are much different compared to blog posts –they are more of a consolidated expression quite independent of the post(s) on a blog. Normally ignored by the readers as some trivial scribbling on the top of each post they are hardly paid any attention and there lies the plight of the author. My Pages on this blog contain varied expressions on different topics inclusive of my poems both in English and Hindi/Urdu. Overall they do have better response as from the readers as per the relative statistics of the blog, they in fact warrant more of an attention and that is possible only when my valued readers don’t ignore them as something just extraneous on the top of a post. May be my poems in a language other than English don’t interest the readers beyond India but for that purpose they can better use the translation facility readily available on any computer and they can make use of it. Their reaction after all is of utmost importance to me.

My Blog Avenues2 is the victim of a disaster:

I already had a doubt for quite some time that there are certain miscreants chasing my blog Avenues2 (tapovan976.org) for a hunt and they succeeded it appears. It was a crash, hacking or something else but the very site is no more visible and I feel totally incapacitated now in doing any work. This one is my other blog which I am using to convey the mishap to the valued readers of Avenues2 if they equally happen to be the readers of this blog too. I don’t think this can work as a standby till such time I am able to recover the Avenues2 chances of which appear bleak. Any scope to work out an alternative is most Herculean a task. Let us see. It’s like my dream project getting shattered to pieces. It’s a sort of crisis and I expect my valued readers to bear with me.

Experiments are an unending anxiety:

It matters much to have new experiments and it is always thrilling on even trivial issues. Some of my readers pointed out to me that my web site just precedent to this one was lacking attraction of the viewers as it was over all a dazzling white. I too had my reservations on it but was keeping the same for the simple reason that this was considered by the Google as a better one from the point of view of attracting links. I have since changed it securing a thrilling sort of satisfaction, and hopefully this should satisfy my readers and the followers. I have already made certain editing on the basic format of the Google’s and yet have in mind to go further for it to ensure that it serves the desired purpose. It’s of course for my valued readers to have the final say in the matter.

Writings are OK, but there has to be no repetition!

There are great pundits who always and unfailingly advise that no writing of any kind should have any repetition. In other words, this should be unique. What does all this mean? Are there some sort of godowns available on earth from where originals could be traced, or even if they are traced as such, who can guarantee their originality, as the moment they are traced and used, they lose it. Bloggers very often receive a caution as from their hosts that whatever is written as a post should be just something uniquely fresh. The bloggers write their posts based on what they receive from outside including books, magazines and the news papers. They have their own perceptions which form the very theme of a write-up. If some body writes on corruption or law and order situation in the country, it just can’t be original as there are thousands of people who are expressing their views on these problems, and such views are obviously supposed to tally with each other in many ways because no occurrence ever changes its very characteristics so far as the material is concerned. Copying something verbatim is not at all desirable, it is well understood, but the ideas and the substance behind a particular theme can not be altered altogether, nor they can be replaced unless there is some story deliberately concocted for the purpose. The idea of ‘no repetition’ in the manner it is put forth is, accordingly, nothing but utopian only.

My Russian readership:

I don’t know who they are individually, but the readers of this blog from Russia have been very valued a lot to me as they so frequently top the list of my viewers even in comparison to India. Such a list, as per Google Analytics, runs in a cyclic order like some times it is India on the top followed by Russia and America, then Russia followed by India and America, and yet then at times America followed by India and Russia, of course with several other countries, but most often it has been Russia with highest readership. Some time back I felt some what disappointed to notice that my geographical location of Russian readership almost showed blank on the map, and this position continued for nearly two weeks plus. I wish I had personally known them to know from them if there was some thing I wrote otherwise which detracted them from showing their usual interest in my blog. And then just the other day, I was amazed to see them back on the map and statistics in the same measure they did it earlier. I extend to them my sincere regards through this post of mine, of course also to my valued readers in different other countries. How quixotic it sounds to be that I love the people I don’t know personally, be it Russia, America, United Kingdom, Brazil, China, Germany or any other country on the world map. Blogging is such a mystical phenomenon after all where people so closely inter-act without personally knowing each other.

As an alternative, I am using this post of mine for the purpose. I quite realise that you are a regular reader, though anonymously, of my posts on this blog of mine, and obviously your reactions do count for me. You have not specified the error, or say errors, which could have enabled me to correct the spots where I was wrong. I confess having found one typographical error on a re-perusal of my post in question; it was the word ‘decent’ erroneously typed as ‘descent’. I have since corrected it. I shall be thankful to you if you please point out to me the other  mistakes as you are taking them. I shall not mind it at all, I shall rather welcome it.

I am making the error on my part as public by publishing it as a post on my blog so that my other valued readers could also re-act freely and unhesitatingly in respect of my writings.

On Social Spark:

I have been a fan of Social Spark for a long time. It’s a different matter that there was a big gap in my continuity with them for about a period of two years as I was off my laptop due to my other predominantly pressing tasks of priority. After I was back to my laptop, I started hankering for Social Spark, but due to a big gap in operation, their terms and conditions required me to seek a fresh approval from them. I followed it. To my utter chagrin, my application was not accepted twice, as I was required to meet some criterion or the other every time. Out of disgust, I thought of even opting for some alternative to Social Spark, but my relationship and commitment with them in the past restrained me from doing so. Finally, it has since been approved,  and I feel like I have achieved something very big. Thanks to Social Spark. Although their non-acceptance two times discouraged me most, this negative side of the story I take now as something positive in the sense that I admire them for being hard task masters not all compromising with the discipline and quality of work ethics. I make a note to see that they are given no chance to get their confidence in me ever deluded.

How do they manage this much?

I often come across certain blog post writers, who publish their write-ups in several dozens at a time. Such bloggers include the one whom I follow. He publishes nearly 50 posts, if not more, in one go. Since I believe in sincerely following blog posts by going through their contents in a proper order giving necessary comments wherever required, I find it extremely difficult to do the job. I am unable to comprehend as to how one can manage writing posts in such a big volume, unless of course he is copying the text from somewhere else. Copying too in such a magnitude is not an easy task, as this again requires lot of time to manage it. I think, within myself, that I am a fast writer but skill wise I just can’t afford going beyond 3 to 4 articles at a time maintaining the normal size of the post. I know, if I start writing two liners, the task can be easier, but I am not the one to compromise the perfectness of a post. If I do so, I feel guilty within myself feeling like I am deceiving my conscience. As a blogger, one has to justify his writings within necessary frame work of a normal and decent post.

Popularising a blog

Quite common as it is, those who keep a blog and write posts on varying topics have an obvious anxiety to see that their efforts in this direction elicit a popular response from the readers. There is nothing wrong in it as every one has an inquisitiveness to see that their work is noticed as widely as possible. Experts say that a good post is the one which is meaningfully worded taking care of the spelling, grammar and thought orientation. In the meantime this should be a brief coverage, they say. Brief to what extent is the question. Only the other day I came across a blog post containing message that ‘….my son has started a blog and he shall be writing necessary posts shortly’. The post was thus covered within a dozen+ words. Surprising as it was I found that too short a post like this had elicited number of visitors with comments. I felt inspired with the post and thought of following the same pattern in regard to the posts on my blog but I am sure I shall be a flop on this count as I find it difficult to compromise the very essence of the message element just for the sake of brevity.

Back to blogging

Back long enough I had stopped blogging for the reason that it looked to be somewhat cumbersome to me and that it didn’t prove remunerative enough to keep me attracted to it. Realising later that if the venture was not that much result oriented it was none else but  myself to blame as possibly I was not able to spare necessary amount of time required for the purpose. Looking back to my association with Socialspark with whom I had developed a close relationship in course of my dealings with them, I felt within myself as if it was a rapport much worth continuing. It formed some amount of temptation in me which I felt I was unable to resist, hence this resumption. Resuming the task undoubtedly falls in the midst of several complicated formalities but they are after all an integral part of any challenge that is undertaken.Thanks to Socialspark and also Google whose platform I have been using for  my blogs.

Relevance of contents in a post

It is for years that I have been writing blog posts yet it appears I am a novice in the field and have to go a long way to claim dexterity in the job. Once one of my hosts gave a remark in the context of a site of mine that the contents didn't suit to their scheme of things. Strange! I pickup a topic, study it, trace and find out the material to support it before I finally draft out my post. I do surfing of several posts from approved sites where I find that they are just two liners. Some one says her mother was sick and she took her to doctor, and the other one comes out with the remark that he was feeling bored and for that reason he chose to go for a movie and yet some one says that he was feeling morose as his friend did not contact him for a long time. If these instances are capable of making out a full length post why a hell I should bother for working hard to make my write up a complete post. I feel like falling in line with such people instead of doing hard labour in a committed order.

Any thing under the Sun

The profile of a blogger friend of mine says that she writes on any thing under the Sun. As the initial impression at the outset I thought she must be a genius otherwise how could it be possible for some one to write on any thing under the Sun -from an insect to giant creatures, from a rivulet to big ocean, from hillocks to mountains and from all types of creepers to monsters. The other thought that occurred to my mind was that it could simply be a free styled expression on picking up the topics of writing but in that case too it is not a small task as after all some thing that is once selected as a subject for a write up is finally to be given a tangibly legible shape. I got somewhat confused but the impression I had drawn at the very first sight of her profile looks like it got embedded into my mind where it is still hovering refusing to go out whispering into my ears that a person capable of writing on any thing under the Sun must be certainly the one blessed with a strong caliber which I, as a co writer, have but to envy.

To be honest to writing a blog post

Uniqueness and originality are the essential requisites, as opportunity givers prescribe in elaborate terms, for writing a post on a blog. Measured in strict terms, both uniqueness and originality in their chaste form are hardly possible to practice as whatever the theme of a particular topic is selected for a write up necessarily has its roots some where or the other. The great poet Mirza Ghalib had much of a semblance in his writings of what another great writer Firdausi penned in his works on face of the fact that both of them had no reason to know each other due to generation gap. The problem is common for all the writers when they pick up a topic out of current events and no event has any solitary point of exposure after it occurs. After an event occurs its description varies from writer to writer making it impossible for all of them to stick to an uniform expression and there the element of originality is bound to split in different dimensions. Prescription for uniqueness and originality thus can't at all be adhered to howsoever best a writer tries to be honest.

Drawing inspiration from brevity masters

I suffer from a feeling that no expression is complete unless a desired justice is done to its elaboration. Then the question arises as to what extent a point is to be elaborated, elaboration in its entirety or with an element of preciseness and this confusion finally lands me to a full length writeup on the subject which after all is a cumbersome task. I have come across certain posts in some blogs where the expression is confined just to a few lines to make the article complete. I too feel like falling in line with this type of writers to get rid of too lengthy a coverage on a topic. Topics till now covered by me have been around 300 words on an average and, if I draw an inspiration from the writers who are brief to the extent of barely a few words, it may serve the purpose if I too confine myself to a length of say within 100 words and here begins my new experiment without ofcourse knowing how my opportunity providers will take it. May be I am taking a risk.

What worth it is to blog?

The current cultural revolution all over the world has it that writing scenario is fast switching over to blogging, blogging on all matters, be it serious writing, publishing ads or playing online games. Access to any website promoted by the sponsorers instantly shows thousands of posts as if the entire world is writing with their blogs as a tool for the purpose. I too have been feeling so enthusiastic about it considering it as the most powerful weapon so far as the expressions are concerned. Satisfying to the maximum with utility orientation, this tool hardly has any match. I have number of websites on varying types. Keeping and maintaining a bigger number of blogs is a task in itself and sounds so cumbersome at times but the very mechanism involved in the process continues tobe interesting and self satisfying coupled with some financial benefits too. I believe in following the rules but many a times, I do admit, I miserably fail to adhere to them in the matters of blogging. Every sponsorer has most voluminous a package of rules which a blogger has to accept before embarking the task to blog. Rules of one sponsorer are most often conflicting with those of others and it is hardly possible for a blogger to meticulously follow the discipline. Even if the working is quite within the frame of the rules, it is not necessary that there is no problem left as many a times a blogger is confronted with hidden clashes amongst the sponsorers. Rules permit a blogger to write for different sponsorers on the same blog but this is something which becomes the root cause for the problem. The problem assumes much graver proportions when it is found that the sponsorer are normally not prepared to enter into any correspondence on individual areas of difficulty. They never lag behind in  most vociferously claiming that they are always prepared to extend all support to individual bloggers but factually it doesn't hold good at all. They either don't reply the queries or, if at all they do so, it is an answer curt and blunt. How nice it would be if those who manage the field for blogging behave more realistically without causing any embarassing situation to the bloggers.

Tracing money areas through blogging -a nightmarish experience !

Money matters are normally read in conjunction with lust but it is not the case always as money is the need for living, it is the need for livelihood for which one has to knock several channels searching and tracing them whereever one can lay his hands upon. Online medium is one such area where needy persons can trace many an avenues where the get attracted at first sight particularly in view of the fact that theirs are the offers most alluring and tempting. Mine has been a very tortuous sort of experience in dealing with them.d They are masters in showing utmost cordiality with the users and the users in turn quite easily fall in their trap. No problem at the takeoff level but soon thereafter a nightmarish experience starts. You continue feeding data after data in your site so acquired by you from them waiting for money and when it comes to that they will raise some query or the other frustrating you to the extreme and ultimately a situation comes when you may feel like calling it a day with them. If you have patience enough to dash emails to them one after the other, they normally don't reply, if at all they reply they only point out some error on your part or some lapse.The objections they raise are in most of the cases on flimsy grounds finding fault with 'clicks' and source; you try to convince them they wo'nt listen. If somehow you are lucky enough to earn some credit in your account, there too you are confronted with so many queries as from Paypal or whatever the agency selected for payment purposes with the result that you are hardly able to get money for the job you so indefatigably did. I am the one who has been working so hard on it but till today what I have been able to experience is just a sheer frustration. No user can do any thing against them as they already make you sign a voluminous agreement with them which abundantly gives them the position of super masters capable enough to deny you your payment on some ground or the other usurping your earnings only to their advantage making fun of the fact that the money so earned was not theirs. In one instance I was asked by one of them to direct my message through the email ID I used while registering with them nearly 3 years back which was not possible for the reason that all these years I was working with another alternate email ID duly accepted by them with the result that I stand disabled to contact them and obviously they are happy that whatever meagre amount I earned is now conveniently theirs.Instances like this are innumerable leading to a conclusion that getting any money through blogging in the case of many is nothing more than some thing just utoppian.

Larry Griffith's work on labour day is so inspiringly attractive. The colour combination in contrast look otherwise only matching when viewed compactly. Couldn't actually follow in what sense it directly denotes some thing on labour itself. Deriving some meaning out of it on that count I can only visualise the glitterings in the life of a labour too who toils hard the whole day and odd hours to make some meals for himself/ herself and the family -the children who hankeringly wait for the whole day for their father/ mother to return home bringing some thing to eat. I do admire the photographer.

Mystery Woman !

Came across a blog with a poem full of melancholy and sadness only the other day.It was something much more than what Keats penned in his ‘ode to melancholy’.Poem followed by some scriblings spoke volumes of seclusion pangs denoting a tempestuous depth of feelings she might be undergoing. ‘Save me against myself’ was the appeal. Her extraordinarily beautiful picture appearing in the blog was itself capable of telling a thousand stories through her deep looks glued to something just invisible. Sympathies sprangup from the core of my heart and I felt like I could share her grief whatever it was but she was inaccessible sans any consideration for her sympathizers –she could be callous or is helpless I don’t know. It’s like I see something and I don’t see. I possibly can’t identify her beyond what Shakespeare might have kept in his mind while talking about ‘Dark Lady’ of his sonnets.
