Sterilizing the elephants:

What a cruel joke? The state government of West Bengal has come out with a decision to sterilize elephants for the reason that they are every now and then a cause for train accidents and, as they feel, the remedy lies in arresting their population growth for the purpose, hence their sterilization. Supreme Court of India has since taken a serious view in the matter. If other States in the country follow suit with the West Bengal government, they may possibly propose the same measure against the families of all those who are killed in rail accidents which mishaps are more or less a routine in India. Elephants are a tameable animal, harmless and human friendly. Their services are utilised in many ways besides being a tool of entertainment in events like a circus. Sterilizing is cruelty, the means that can be used by the governments instead are safety measures on the part of the railways to scare them away from the rail tracks. Elephants alone are not the cause of accidents and in several cases they occur as a result of negligence on the part of the personnel concerned and if that factor is duly taken care of the potential accidents can very well be averted. In no case cruel  measures like sterilization, too excruciating and tortuous a process, can be the alternative.

A few decades back I had been to a doctor, Dr. Manohar Singh, Head of the eye hospital at Bahraich (U.P.,India) as a student for an eye check up. It was in the after noon and I was the first patient to visit, no rush and no queue. The doctor, as if he was hankering for some patient to call on him, attended me with a fullest possible attention seeing to it that the first patient of his, and possibly the last for the day, has not to go back unattended. Compare the change in scenario on date any where in the country and you would come across a sky change where you may have to wait for your turn standing in the long queue for hours together, and may be you are given some other date for the purpose even if the doctor concerned is just an ordinary one. Doctors and hospitals have mushroomed in growth multiple times in the country compared to the past but there is hardly any scope for the patients to get a doctor who could spare necessary time to the patients to their satisfaction. Reason is obviously an abnormal growth in population. You go to a doctor, go for shopping, go for travelling and even entertainment areas like cinema or clubs, you may have to rub your shoulders to get your turn. Measures to control economy at the national level are just a flop sans result orientation as they fail to proportionately match the most explosive and alarming growth of population. In fact more than any other measures to suit the interest of economy factor what is peremptorily needed is to check and curb  every day growing population of the country assuming much graver proportions with each day that passes.

Zohara Sehgal–the end of an era:

Born in 1912, Zohra Sehgal was 102 years old when she breathed her last in the afternoon the other day in a New Delhi hospital. She was a pace setter icon of the Indian film industry and was an era in herself. Before switching over to films she was a theatre artist. But for the problem of blood circulation not regularly reaching the veins of her vital organs during her last days, the cause of her death, she was quite in her form and active till the  end of her life. She was an inspiration that way to all the health conscious people in different age groups. When she entered the theatre followed by films it was rarest of the rare ventures for a woman to join the industry of entertainment but she proved herself bold enough to take the plunge. She played her record roles with Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachhan besides several others of the modern era. Wish peace to the departed soul.

Pages on a blog are much different compared to blog posts –they are more of a consolidated expression quite independent of the post(s) on a blog. Normally ignored by the readers as some trivial scribbling on the top of each post they are hardly paid any attention and there lies the plight of the author. My Pages on this blog contain varied expressions on different topics inclusive of my poems both in English and Hindi/Urdu. Overall they do have better response as from the readers as per the relative statistics of the blog, they in fact warrant more of an attention and that is possible only when my valued readers don’t ignore them as something just extraneous on the top of a post. May be my poems in a language other than English don’t interest the readers beyond India but for that purpose they can better use the translation facility readily available on any computer and they can make use of it. Their reaction after all is of utmost importance to me.

Not just an actor:

A son inherits his name through his father’s and if this was the case with Amitabh Bachhan he would have been known as Amitabh Rai Bachhan like his father Harivansh Rai Bachhan, a renowned poet of his time. He is a Shahanshah of Indian film industry, a status none could occupy and the reputation and popularity which he commands remains un-parallel in the history of Bollywood. Though in advancing age, he still exceeds his contemporaries in calibre and stamina. Normally the actors attaining a stature of popularity get swayed by it and develop a tendency of a false grandeur but he is the one who is much above all this remaining as simple a man as one in the masses. He did have his own romantic affairs but he didn’t allow them to mar his marital life continuing to remain a good husband. He is an idol, and ideal too, as a son, a father, a father-in-law and a grand father remaining fully a committed family man. He is just a simple person sans any kind of ego and even a commoner from the streets can meet him. He sees to it that within family circles every one talks in Hindi, the national language and his mother tongue instead of English which is otherwise a fancy for many in our country, more so in the Bollywood. Much away from the grandeur and falsehood, he hardly has any ego. Many of his co stars who wanted to pose themselves as superior to him insisted the film producers for higher remuneration compared to him which gesture he never resisted, he rather simply compromised with whatever he was paid. Now a days he appears more in ads but that is again a field for him where he is getting as much of a popularity as he got in the films. He is an inspiration and an ideal for the people in different age groups be it the younger generation or be it the older ones. Let us wish him to continue inspiring generation after generation.

Music magician Zubin Mehta to perform in Srinagar:

It’s a thrilling news that that the living legend of the stature of Zubin Mehta, a music wizard of Indian origin now aged 77 years currently based in USA, is scheduled to perform in Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) some times in September this year tentatively in the Moghal Gardens there. He is likely to be accompanied by hundreds of the other musicians belonging to his team reaching India two days before the spectacular event. Finalisation of the arrangements in an elegant manner are in the offing at the top priority level in the State. The entire programme is to be telecast to about 100 countries of the world to the benefit and interest of the music lovers. The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, is personally taking keen interest to see that the programme gets necessary priority at the top level. He is likely to address a press conference in the matter at New Delhi shortly. This shall certainly be a proud occasion for the country for the reason that Zubin Mehta is not only a great music wizard, he originally belongs to India the citizenship of which he still retains.

Slashing ads timing on TV:

It’s a sigh of relief that the government has now come out with a restriction on television advertisements which are cumbersome to the viewers in a worst possible order. The technique of displaying ads on the TV is such that best part of the time is snatched away by the agencies concerned in showing the advertisements which are a sort of interruption with a few minutes gap in between. Now that it has been decided that from October’2013 onwards the ad schedules shall not be allowed to exceed 12 minutes in an hour at an average. Such a measure on the part of the government is likely to secure much of relief for the viewers creating necessary scope for them to devote more time towards the coverage of other meaningful displays getting rid of the unnecessary boredom and the inconvenience with interruptions caused to the viewers after every few minutes. The sooner the decision so taken is implemented, the better.

An emotional blackmail by TV channels:

Blackmailing is a common phenomenon these days and it is fully rampant in all spheres of life. One can hardly come across any spot where there is no blackmailing. Television channels are an easy a tool for entertainment. Men, women, children, all go for it. There are stories, there are serials. Certain areas, the touchy ones, are very common for the purpose like rape, killing, death, horrors. Death scenes followed by after death rituals form a lengthy theme because emotionally the people feel more involved in them. I am not a regular one on television excepting of course news channels, but at times I throw a look on some family serials. The channels do the weaving of the story threads in a manner that a most suspenseful an event is not allowed to get clinched after a stage when it reaches the climax. This is the stage when viewers get more engrossed to the story but no sooner it reaches that level there is an abrupt break compelling the audience to keep sitting because of the anxiety element attached to the story. There are repeats of such suspenseful moments every now and then obviously with a motive targeting a better traffic rate. All this acrobatics amounts only to a large scale blackmailing playing with the sentiments of the viewers.

Sanjai Dutt not seeking any pardon!

No pardoning Sanjai Dutt as he himself is not seeking it. Emotionally frustrated, he broke down while talking to the media persons the other day. The way things are moving, it appears there is a sort of witch hunting  against him as enumerated in another blog post a few days back through the link If Sanjai Dutt still has any scope to escape the punishment. He is a celebrity in the sense that he is one of the top most actors in the Bollywood with enough of social work to his credit. It is not that he is much above any common man in the eyes of the Law in the country as there are several instances in the past that the criminal cases did become a subject of a review. There have been reviews in similar such cases including even those of the nature of murder, and what is wrong if the same measures are extended to  Sanjai Dutt treating him equally as a common man in the democracy of India. Some of my friends expressed that he should not be the one above Law of the country. Where is the question of treating him above the Law? If he is pardoned, it is very much on the lines of what has already been done in the past in numerous cases. He deserves a reconsideration, a review, by all means.

Let us admire Aditya, a 5 year old to swim across Yamuna!

A child aged hardly 5 years normally prefers to cling to his parents lap or keep around it or at the most play some child like games within the precincts of the house hold. Aditya of Allahabad proved himself to be an exception. He was courageous and strong enough to swim across the violent river Yamuna from Naini to Saraswati Ghat covering a water level distance of 900 metres. He has earned a prize for it. Aditya Chatterjee is the son of Subrat Chatterjee, who himself has been an outstanding swimmer securing a place in the Limca Book for his extra ordinary performance in swimming. Aditya is a worthy son of worthy father and the blood of a grand swimmer runs in his veins. He is sure to some day establish a record in swimming for himself illuminating not only the name of Allahabad, the city which he belongs to, but the country as a whole. We are proud of Aditya, and whole heartedly wish you to secure sumptuous laurels for you in days to come.

Ask Aamir Khan, the actor, as to who is his favourite hero in politics, his prompt reply is Obama, the President of America. Although he is the one who claims that he has no interest in politics, he very much reserves a right to express himself whenever he so feels like doing. 'Politics is the refuge of the scoundrels' said a writer and without using any harsh words Aamir Khan too appears more or less of the same view. There should be good people in politics, he says, quoting American President as an ideal leader. Believing in a result oriented working, he feels Obama is radical in real terms and that he means business.

Indicative of normal plain views as the Inplainsight looks to be it is infact full of meaningful messages on life and varying patterns of it. One may find it so interesting to find out semblances of near and dear equally friends. As I could lay my vision to one of them I found it somewhat resembling to a friend of mine but then while measuring it more thoroughly I felt like finding some fault or the other here and there like her nose might have been more moderately tiny or her looks more romantically aggressive to match my friend's to whom I have sent the relative video and email message inviting her reactions on the topic. Tracing some peculiar personna angle in vedeo pictures is an interesting feature and I do feel anxious to see more of such quiz oriented items.USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight

They are much more than entertainers

Small stage shows, road site performance and also Nautanki were the routine source of entertainment in olden days and the performers were not the star status people. They were taken so lightly and the society denied them any status worth any recognition. It improved. Silent cinema followed. And then there was voice too. Persons from status families started joining films. The primary requirement for the actors and the actresses was that besides playing their role they should also be singers themselves. This again was followed by play back singing. Now that the total scenario as undergone a sea change. The element of an inbuilt disdain obtaining earlier against the entertainers is left far away behind and they are now respected people, they are the great personalities and many of them the renowned celebrities. Number of them are highly qualified academically as against earlier days when such a feature was something so rare. Dilip Kumar as a graduate and Kamini Kaushal as B.A. (Hons) were considered as a phenomenon of exception. As a group or say as a class they are practically the ones who are acting as friends, philosophers and guides for the society as a whole through their most skilled and powerfull roles covering the multifarious interests of the people. They are a respected lot now deserving all possible recognition.

Cheer girls in plenty? Yeh, they are there for entertainment for cricketers as well as viewers whose number has grown in large proportions as bigger portion of theirs is there not so much for the crickerts playing on the ground but for the cheer girls. Their indescent postures many a times during their performance are not to be taken as such as public vote is in their favour. I was searching Picasa for some photograph of Nelson Mandela for my writeup, I failed to trace any out of a total of 3 pictures. In the same sequence I glanced over the most exciting photograph of cheer girls whose photographs exceeded around 900 in number. What did this difference mean ? Obviously it is not some Nelson Mandela or the other who is that much in demand, it is the cheer girls with baring gestures who are so much wanted and accordingly their photographs are there in supply to meet the demand.

Now that blogs are recognized as a most powerful communicational tool, they are sumptuously in use both by common men and the celebrities and their contribution in bringing people together is enormous. Their rapport with their audience and the viewers was never that easy earlier nor it was that possible for their fans to reach them earlier. Amitabh Bachhan is the one having since started his own website obviously for necessary interaction with the people. The expressions which otherwise needed a proper opportunity for the purpose can now just be given a shape any time a thought occurs to their mind which can well be shared by the persons so wanting. Aamir Khan has been doing it for quite sometime besides several others in the film industry. Amitabh Bachhan has spoken on several matter through his website on the subjects more or less untouched before. Misunderstanding between the two stalwarts -Amitabh Bachhan and Shahrukh Khan are a well known fact. Amitabh Bachhan has since expressed himself telling that he is for necessary reconciliation of the misunderstanding that is there between the two and that he would certainly like to talk to Shahrukh Khan. A good gesture indeed in burying the hatchet and if the result that emerges is positive, credit certainly goes to blogging media proving that this source is not just a routine scribbling but is a great pacifier too.

• Cultural changes reaching a pinnacle, there are newer innovations one after the other emerging to surface. Games. It is a renaissance, an upheaval or a radical change on the cultural front is a different matter but the message it leaves for the people of the country is lucidly clear -the message of a total overhaul of the civilization scenario. Games being a great tool of entertainment, exercise and publicity, they are the best chosen area of imposing any new sort of trend on any front. Cheer girls are now the latest addition to grandeur in cricket as if it was otherwise lacking necessary popularity. Cricket mania is a known phenomenon not only in this country but equally in all the places in the world but its managers felt there was an urgent need of accelerating its popularity for which they opted for cheer girls as a device to attract viewers. The result is as it was guessed. The viewers are all not the cricket lovers, they consist of the audience in bigger measure more interested in scantly dressed girls dancing, twisting their bodies and even kissing the players in the field. The show can't be branded as ugly, obscene or ridiculous as it is organised by powerful forums. The question that needs an answer is that if the way these cheer girls show themselves baring themselves to the point of nudity, what is left for the preachers of descency to teach. The media sought an opinion from the viewers themselves who were almost unanimously of the opinion that there is nothing wrong in it and that it should be given full freedom to go ahead further. What is the meaning. Is it not that we are heading towards a catastrophic scenario with the name Cultural heritage of India?

Badshah or King ?

What a controversy? The media, the people, the information agencies are all engrossed in every time talking about as to who stands where, whether it is Amitabh Bachhan who is the real Badshah of film industry or whether virtually it is Shahrukh Khan who stands on the top as the King in Bollywood. Why this question is raised every now and then and at times it appears as if there is no other business warranting attention in the affairs of the country. Both these stars are a great asset for the nation and both have enormous contribution in enhancing and propagating the image of the country at the global level. Amitabh Bachhan is the one actor who has played all roles pertaining to the society. When asked by a journalist as to whether there is any role he has not yet played, Amitabh Bachhan's answer recently was 'yes, Bhoot'. Bhoot is his new picture where his role is that of a ghost. Symbolically this answer also gave a distant impression of Amitabh Bachhan talking of a phase after life as he is now quite in an advancing age block. Whatever roles he has played till now are all a superb performance, animated and lively. Shahraukh has been a role model of youth after Amitabh's image as 'angry young man' started feigning. An amount of overacting is most often found in Shahrukh's performance but it was never the case with Amitabh Bachhan. These are the after the roles imitating life on screen but what really matters is as to how these roles are performed. Performance wise both are the gems procuring global laurels for India and there is no reason why unnecessary grades be added to them isolating one from the other. Both deserve appreciation, recognition and respect by the people of the country.
