Ever hungry M.Ps. want higher limits for poll expenses:
Call it hunger or lust, the Members of Parliament, at least majority of them if not all, all along have an unquenchable thirst for money in some name or the other as if hyper jump in their salary and allowances last time with basic pay alone fixed at one lakh per month was not enough. They are practically on a loot of public exchequer for their own comforts and luxuries. Now many of them are clamouring for an enhancement in their poll expenses limit. There are many contestants who already spent in their last elections much beyond the limit prescribed by the Election Commission which is an offence but nothing sort of any penalty or punishment happened to them. Their allowances other than salary are innumerable. They are the ones who raise hue and cry every time there are demands raised for improvement in monthly emoluments for the employees of public sector undertakings including banks who toil hard with their sweat and blood in the interest of the people of the country. Employees are forbidden by their service rules to opt for any side job or business as against the M.Ps. who have a multiple tier of businesses to earn a hefty income besides their own salary and allowances. It is a sheer corruption in a way and time has come for the concerned authorities that be in the matter to cry a robust halt to their ill manoeuvred designs to grab public money some way or the other.

Relevance of Rajbhavans in India:
When British ruled India they had secured best of luxury for themselves throughout the country and in league with that largest possible bungalows (Rajbhavans) sprang up in every state of India providing residential accommodation to the then Governors now known as Rajyapals and the one at Kolkata initially used to be the residence of Governor General (Viceroy) of India till such time the capital of the country was shifted to Delhi in 1912. The next bungalow built for Governor of Bombay (Mumbai) was more or less equally big and continues as such as on date followed by the ones in other state capitals. The grandeur of size and design in respect of the residences constructed for Governors in newly formed states too in the country after independence are provided the same luxury as the older ones during British time. Rajbhavan of Mumbai was more in a lime light after there was a news published that it saved 1.35 lakh units of power compared to last year by using energy friendly devices and solar energy panels. Such a saving amply gives an estimate as to what could have been the total consumption of the power in the Rajbhavan premises. Isn’t it a wastage in a country like India where economic crisis continues perpetuating? True, heads of states need a symbolic status but there appears to be no relevance to go much beyond proportions on this count. It’s a case of slashing down the amount of luxury in a country like India extending the benefit so accrued to the other sections of the society in the country who are badly hankering for some frugalest possible a spot called a house.

Mujhe lechalo jee (take me too along):
There was a nautanki show with the name mujhe lechalo jee (take me too along with you) where the actors portrayed the role of evil spirits and how they haunted the men and women in the locality. Haunted by an evil spirit a man named Billu suddenly disappeared from the village. Village Panchayat deputed another man called Jhillu to find out what went wrong with Billu. Deep into a forest he found that there was a crowd of people all haunted by evil spirits crying in a chorus ‘mujhe lechalo jee’ and to his surprise Billu was one of them. On reaching the spot he too had the spell of the evil spirit and before he could ask any thing to Billu he himself started repeating ‘mujhe lechalo ji’. Village Panchayat continued sending men to the forest one after the other but all had the same fate. Lastly the Panchayat Chief himself ventured to go and find out what was the mystery but as soon as he reached the spot he himself started repeating the utterance mujhe lechalo jee. Finally what happened was that all who were condemning the evil spirits were themselves in their dragnet.
Our country is like that. Leaders from outside the government join full throated slogans condemning it right and left but when they themselves have the chance to rule the country they go worse. This is what is exactly manifest on the surface after the new government has taken over. Soaring prices including latest rise in cost of petrol, diesel and rail fare, security, economy and law and order are all in a terribly bad shape. All Billus and Jhillus occupying their coveted positions in the new government look only hypnotised by the power to rule they have now and the common man is as helpless as he used to be during the earlier government then in the saddle.

Soaring prices in a developing economy:
The present government under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to have a curb on soaring prices, an area of sharp criticism every where and a major component which did cast UPA their government. The very message as from the present governmental quarters that efforts are in the offing to secure some breather is heartening and received well at the level of the people in general. There are doubts, however, if the endeavours made in this direction may really elicit some tangible relief as these are two deeply inter related areas –soaring prices and developing economy. Any healthy development is all supposed to equip the people with jobs, business and multiple avenues for prosperity which factors in turn are likely to enhance the purchasing power of the consumers and this is bound to result into a steep rise in prices of essential commodities based on the well accepted theory of supply and demand. Any developing economy supplies more money to the people enabling them to resort to more buying and more the buying more are the chances of the prices shooting up. If Modi Government is able to maintain the growth in the meantime keeping a check on price rise it settles at a miracle only.

Shame on you Mr. Chief Minister, U.P.

Modi, thy name is revolution:
Modi, thy name is revolution, thy name is development. You are a great boon incarnate for the country. A great star on the firmament of Indian politics, you are the one who should have been there on the national scene at least a decade back. Unlimited timings of work with no weekly offs for your ministerial team and other functional agencies in the harness to ensure quick delivery of goods is an initiative healthy enough to leave a message for the people of the country that they are to be fully cared and looked after in the matters of their welfare and security. Planning rocket trains besides bullet trains to connect bigger centres of the country with one another is some thing that never struck the mind of your predecessors as they never took it as their direct concern like you are doing. They remained highly self centred hardly looking beyond their nose with people’s interest in mind. You have hoisted the flag of an all round development for the country as a whole without even an iota of discrimination or prejudice visible any where. Your indefatigable efforts aimed at building up the nation throwing a challenge to many of the countries globally are capable enough to create an unprecedented record in political history of India. The people of the country in turn are supposed to feel concerned with the security and health of yours and also your team. As an humble submission through this blog, let us earnestly suggest at least some break between different work schedules as against your pursuit for 24 hours work a day as some relaxation too is the part of work only because it is a factor that in fact boosts up the working efficiency further. Let us wish you to acquire laurels after laurels as from the people of India for the mission of service to the nation so undertaken by you.

If this could be an indication?
Proposed increase in railway fare by 10% with effect from the 20th May is reported to be deferred till the new government in India takes over under the Prime Ministership of Narendra Modi. The people in general take it as an indication to undo the increase or partly reduce it to suit the pocket of the passengers. If this be so, it is certainly a move in right direction in the interest of the rail traffic. Narendra Modi is supposed to take oath as the next Prime Minister of India on the 21st May. There is already another initiative taken by the Prime Minister designate to see that a dairy project by Amul of Gujarat estimated to cost 200 crores of rupees starts at Varanasi. These two small instances of measures obviously at the instance of Modi are quite indicative of the positively practical steps in the direction of peoples interest and fully speak of the style of working on his part even before he takes over fully and finally. Let us wish that guess on the part of the public is correct.

Heavy turnout of voters–what it indicates?
With last phase of general elections in India in the offing there has been a huge turnout of the voters every where in India compared to previous ones. This is a positive indications and amply shows enough of awareness on the part of the electorate. Experts in politics are divided in their views as to what it is indicative of. Some say that it clearly shows the trend in favour of a massive change at the level of the central government and there are some who hold an opinion that the trend supports pro attitude of the voters for the repeat of UPA government. There are yet many who are of the view that it is suggestive of pro BJP voting in which connection they quote previous records saying that whenever there was massive voting in the past it invariably went in favour of BJP barring an exception or two. Narendra Modi as from BJP is having a wave in his favour and also in favour of his party as visible on the surface. These are predictions based on calculations but what the voters have actually in their mind can be tangibly known only when the poll results are out in the middle of the next month.
