- The affirmative consent definition is one of many factors that is assessed when sexual violence is investigated and adjudicated on our campuses. But it is an extremely important one.

As if free sex is inevitably a dire need?

What type of a molestation is this?
Just so peculiar, a boy friend for several years molesting his love as if he was doing something else all this time. Preity Zinta, a famous cine star from Bollywood has lodged an FIR with the local police at Mumbai that there was an attempt of molestation made against her by her ex boy friend and an industrialist Ness Wadia. A bid to molest the other side is normally a prologue to developing physical relations and in the instant case that stage was crossed long back between the two. May be the law doesn’t permit molestation as a sequal to forcible sex even in the case of divorcees but in the matters of love affairs the situation is to be read slightly in a different context of the mutual understanding the couple had continuously for several years where physical union was not at all taken as a forbidden fruit. Possibly the whole episode is the type of much ado about nothing.

Sex with a dog or a bitch –any proof?
There is a story, a real one, of a judge who kept the judgement in a case pending for a long time unable as he found himself as to how go about the very proof part of body contents of the case. The case was a divorce petition filed by a man against his wife on the grounds of infidelity and that she was in the habit of having sex with a dog. The judge was satisfied and fully convinced on the grounds put up by the lawyer of the man concerned but there was nothing like any concrete proof. He was upset and had sleepless nights brooding all along as to how proceed further in the matter. His wife asked him why he was upset and the judge told him the whole story including the problem of the proof. His wife was able to give him a clude. She suggested ‘why not examine upper part of the belly of the petitioner’s wife. If there are paw marks of the dog on her belly, it would clearly indicate that she was having sex with the dog’. The very next day when the judge reached the court the first thing he did was to order necessary examination of the petitioners wife. It was done and the judge found that quite visibly there were the paw marks on her belly. The judge pronounced his verdict upholding the petitioner’s allegation. What happened the next was an amazement as the judge divorced his own wife immediately on reaching his home for obvious reasons that she too had paw marks on her belly which he had failed to notice earlier. Who knows how many females and equally males in the human society could be practicing such a bestiality as zoophiles?

Tarun Tejpal of Tahelka–why in reverse gear?
It was only the other day that Tarun Tejpal, the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Tahelka, once considered a bomb blast on exposure of several scandals with himself in a lead role, admitted having committed a sexual assault on a junior journalist girl at Goa and expressed his regrets for incident in several words. As a matter of self confession, he also withdrew himself from the job of Editor-in-Chief for three months, a punishment he prescribed for himself based on his self realisation. Now that necessary criminal proceedings have already been initiated against him in the matter by the police with hectic interrogations, surprisingly he has gone back on his earlier version of statement with the assertion that he is not guilty and whatever happened was fully with the consent of the woman concerned. After this type of U turn what he meant to say was that the act in question was that of a consensual sex and there was nothing like any rape. When Tejpal had earlier confessed and had expressed regrets he was quite able to gain sympathy of the people but after a quick reversal in his stand now he is being much more condemned as from all quarters in the society. Such a turn in reverse gear on the part of Tejpal only deprives him of any sympathy from any body and the law has to take its own course unhindered.

Uniquely novel an agitation–Sex strike:
Friday, 2 August 2013
A hell as let loose by a devil:
Demons and devils are not any separate community by themselves, it is the humans themselves who act as such to satisfy their ego and vengeance. As reported by the media, a man brutally killed his two children for the reason that he had suspicion against his wife on her integrity and character and that she had sexual relations with some one else. The man named Suresh Kumar was married to one Sheetal Sharma of Pathankot (India) some two years back. They had a daughter Navya aged 11 months and a son aged 2 months plus. His doubt was that the children are not his. Implementing his horrifying plan to kill both the children, he picked up a lizard, killed it and boiled it in milk forcing the kids to drink the same. Both of them died on the spot. Suresh Kumar was right or wrong in his doubts against his wife Sheetal Sharma is entirely a different matter but there is nothing that can justify the killing of the innocent kids. It was as a matter of vengeance and with a view to create panic and horror for his wife that he perpetrated such a ghastly and devilish act. Even the water of seven oceans is not enough to clean his hellish act against kids, the innocent ones to realise any purpose for eliminating them.

Do we call it the year of gang rape?
Nearly a month back, the Year 2012 was over and we bade it adieu with the memories of several events of significance including mishaps of the worst order like ‘New Delhi gang rape case’, most ghastly an incident. This was not the only case of the year 2012, the average rate of such casualties has been almost 2-3 every day through out the year if the media is to be believed. I think India could be a solitary country all over the world to set such a record for itself. Rapes are a common phenomenon every where in the world as a matter of a routine human weakness, but the way they are so much in vogue in India as a perpetuating menace is horrible. India is one of the top countries in the matter of corruption, and so is it equally, nay more, on the top in the matter of rape cases. No woman is safe outside, or even inside her house. The type of New Delhi gang rape case is almost totally unheard of in any other country. This case read in conjunction with the several other cases that might have occurred during the year’2012 most appropriately entitles it as the Year of rapes/ gang rape.

Yet another suggestion to punish the rapist(s)!
After New Delhi gang rape occurrence in the very capital of India, there are plenty of proposals on the method of punishment to the perpetrators of the gang rape coming forth from different quarters including the suggestions the readers of my another blog ‘Avenues’ made in the shape of their comments, necessary link of which is given below. They are like this:
- The perpetrators of the rape be awarded the penalty of death forthwith.
- They be rendered impotent to experience the crime themselves.
- They should (in the form of a wish) get their rebirth as women so that they could realise as to what sort of tortures the rape victims have to undergo.
- They be awarded life imprisonment in the meantime rendering them impotent to experience the miseries of victims life themselves on day today basis till the last moment they are alive.
- They be thrown to wild dogs to get chased, bitten, smitten, and eaten with their flesh in pieces devoured by them, as per practice obtaining in certain places in the olden days.
The last one is the latest as suggested by Azam Khan, a cabinet rank Minister in Uttar Pradesh (India) only the other day holding the view that Shariat already has a provision like this. Although this sounds crude and cruel, this too is not enough, even if all the penalties as mentioned above are awarded all together at a stretch, to meet the quantum of punishment the perpetrators of rape, more so a gang rape, deserve in real terms.

Initiative for sex
Romance and sex have all along been most dominant a factor since ages, nay since day one after life started on the earth planet. Chanakya, the great sage and diplomat who was the chief advisor to king Chandragupt Maurya, held a view that women have eight times more anxiety for sex compared to men and this view fully holds good in the case of birds and animals, even creatures. One thing that differs in this context is as to who is a fore runner in the matters of initiatives for the purpose. There it is the male that stands first both in the case of humans and animals. If a man feels proud in offering several temptations like valour, money and wealth to the opposite sex, animals do the same thing and it is the meat that acts as a major incentive in their case as they have nothing like money or wealth to offer. A tiger, besides exhibiting his valour and strength in so many ways to a tigress, no sooner he kills his prey he offers it to her and she easily succumbs to temptation offering her sex to him readily. So does a dog. Blue bulls are known to be vegetarians in strict terms but they drag their female partners to green pastures offering them the leaves of grass, crop and the plants. They are known for keeping three partners at a time. It is a mystery only as to why initiative part is more dominantly played only by males and not that much by females.

Being sexy–what does it denote?
The statement made by Mamta Sharma, the chair person of National Commission for women, while addressing a conference to the effect that there is nothing wrong if a woman is called sexy, this should instead be taken as compliment and appreciation has since become a matter of controversy. The furore on that count is raised by the women themselves and they have taken it as some thing much more derogatory to their honour and dignity. Many of them even raised a demand that Mamta Sharma be removed from her post as the chair person of the commission. There are big debates all over the country whether her remark is to be really taken as that of appreciation or as some thing that sounds derogatory. In fact the words are some thing which continue changing their definitions with the passage of time. It applies to all the languages whether it is English, Hindi, Tamil, Spanish, Urdu, Sanskrit or any thing
else. The Oxford Dictionary of Current English describes sexy as (1)‘sexually attractive or stimulating’. (2)’sexually aroused’, (3) ‘concerned with or engrossed in sex’. In earlier days the word ‘sexy’ used to be denotative of a biological inference and it was read in its crude form. Now things are changed and enormous upheavals are there in the social order. There are many a women and the girls who unhesitatingly take it as some thing of a compliment when some one calls them sexy. Vidya Balan, the famous star in Bollywood, in her last visit to Kanpur where she visited to promote one of her latest films, said with a sense of pride that she felt much elevated in to herself when people called her sexy adding that it was most often in the context of her eyes and voice. The observation that gender sensitisation occurs more due to provocative looks and dress the women wear is correct quite to some extent but the fact is that the very social order of the day on the part of the people in general coupled with their cavalier attitude is itself to blame for the malady. Literally and also grammatically speaking any person having the element of greed is called greedy and similarly any person possessing the element of sex is sexy which factor gains strength when it is read in the context of the meaning of ‘sexy’ in the dictionary as quoted above. Any inference drawn out of the word ‘sexy’ beyond this is nothing but just the reflection of one’s own individual mind in the garb of the enormous change in social scenario assuming the character of an ultra modern culture.

There are things beyond sex too:
There is love, there is romance and there is lust and these are the phenomenon which encircle the mankind forming a grotesque most cycle of events running uninterrupted since ages knowing no end. But life does not end with this alone as there are things more compelling than all this confronting human life. In the words of a great poet it goes like this:
“Rahten aur bhi hain wasl ki rahat ke siwa
aur bhi gham hain zamane mein mohabbat ke siwa”
This is in Urdu and when translated in English it means that love alone as a matter of relief and solace is not every thing in life. Compare hunger for instance. There are innumerable instances where people had to compromise their sex for some food. Even Merilyn Monro had to do so in her early days of poverty when she was most commoner a woman before she rose to fame and became a top most movie star in the world. Situational compulsion like that of hunger is the one that forces a person to ignore even her/ his dignity for the sake of it. Sex could at times be a matter of lust but not the hunger where one has no limits of surrender when it goes unbearable and is far beyond any patience.

Abandoned children
Who they are? Why they are abandoned? It is every now and then that there are reports about some child or the other found some where here and there. In most of the cases it is found that the child concerned happens to be the one abandoned for the reason that it was delivered illegitimately and its parents could not afford the shame that could have erupted against them on this count in the society. Why indulge into illegal sex if the parents concerned are not bold enough to face the eventual outcome in the form of delivering an offspring? If it is love and not the lust on the part of the partners in a sexual activity they are supposed to be bold enough to own the child so born. Motherhood is a divine phase and no amount of any explanations can justify the callousness on the part of any mother for abandoning her child. If partners in sex don’t have enough courage to face its consequences including delivery of a child they must at least be capable of affording necessary patience to abstain from any sexual activity.
