How funny? There are television enthusiasts who have a fancy to copy every thing they see on a TV or some movie in a picture hall. There is a story published by the media that there were two boys who saw a hanging scene as a part of some picture on TV. The horror sort of the scene left a deep impression on their mind and they decided to go for a rehearsal of the same themselves. One of them offered to play the role of the man to be hanged and the other one opted to act as the Jallad (hangman). They faulted in playing their roles with the result that the boy who was doing rehearsal of the man to be hanged got really hanged in the process as the mock executioner had too tightly tied the noose around the neck of the other boy and it failed to open at the last moment. More than the boys, necessary precaution in fact might have been exercised by their guardians in the household as the growing adolescents are not supposed to be cautious enough against their activities of adventurism.

Sex with a dog or a bitch –any proof?
There is a story, a real one, of a judge who kept the judgement in a case pending for a long time unable as he found himself as to how go about the very proof part of body contents of the case. The case was a divorce petition filed by a man against his wife on the grounds of infidelity and that she was in the habit of having sex with a dog. The judge was satisfied and fully convinced on the grounds put up by the lawyer of the man concerned but there was nothing like any concrete proof. He was upset and had sleepless nights brooding all along as to how proceed further in the matter. His wife asked him why he was upset and the judge told him the whole story including the problem of the proof. His wife was able to give him a clude. She suggested ‘why not examine upper part of the belly of the petitioner’s wife. If there are paw marks of the dog on her belly, it would clearly indicate that she was having sex with the dog’. The very next day when the judge reached the court the first thing he did was to order necessary examination of the petitioners wife. It was done and the judge found that quite visibly there were the paw marks on her belly. The judge pronounced his verdict upholding the petitioner’s allegation. What happened the next was an amazement as the judge divorced his own wife immediately on reaching his home for obvious reasons that she too had paw marks on her belly which he had failed to notice earlier. Who knows how many females and equally males in the human society could be practicing such a bestiality as zoophiles?

An emotional blackmail by TV channels:
Blackmailing is a common phenomenon these days and it is fully rampant in all spheres of life. One can hardly come across any spot where there is no blackmailing. Television channels are an easy a tool for entertainment. Men, women, children, all go for it. There are stories, there are serials. Certain areas, the touchy ones, are very common for the purpose like rape, killing, death, horrors. Death scenes followed by after death rituals form a lengthy theme because emotionally the people feel more involved in them. I am not a regular one on television excepting of course news channels, but at times I throw a look on some family serials. The channels do the weaving of the story threads in a manner that a most suspenseful an event is not allowed to get clinched after a stage when it reaches the climax. This is the stage when viewers get more engrossed to the story but no sooner it reaches that level there is an abrupt break compelling the audience to keep sitting because of the anxiety element attached to the story. There are repeats of such suspenseful moments every now and then obviously with a motive targeting a better traffic rate. All this acrobatics amounts only to a large scale blackmailing playing with the sentiments of the viewers.

Holi, the festival of festivities:
It (this picture) looks like that of a garbage but is in fact collection of wood from the felled trees with their rough mass collected by the local people to accumulate as a big heap to be used as an open air bonfire around which the devotees from hinduism are to assemble in a large number marking the advent of spring season celebrating it as the festival of festivities. This takes place a day before HOLI and, believe as they do, a new year starts with this. There are several stories connected with the festival one of which says that Hirnakashyap, a power full demon, wanted himself to be worshipped as God (Vishnu) but he was opposed by his own son Prahalad who in turn was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu, the God. Hirnakashyap wanted to get rid of him entrusting the job to his sister Holika (Prahlad’s aunt) who had the boon not to get harmed by fire. As per plan so designed with a religious ritual in the back ground she entered into the bonfire taking Prahlad in to her lap obviously with a pre determined mind to get him burnt and killed remaining her self safe and alive as the fire was not to harm her as per the boon she had. What happened was just the reverse. It was she herself and not Prahlad who was engulfed and devoured by fire flames. Prahlad, a devotee as he was of Lord Vishnu, remained safe and intact without any slightest possible harm to him. What further followed was the killing of Hirnakashyap himself by Lord Vishnu. Solemn devotion thus prevailed over the evil and it is with this message that the festival is observed as Holika Dahan.

I shouldn't have asked him to go back...
A young boy in his later teens knocked at my door today morning asking for some money. He was deaf and dumb hence giving me his request on a piece of paper. Initially I felt somewhat reluctant in offering him a few rupees but like it is a practice on the part of many a boys in the city to resort to such measures as a device to make money but finding that he is handicapped I did offer him a twenty rupee note. He was happy and had a smile, a smile of satisfaction. I returned to my adjoining office. I had hardly settled into my chair when I heard a knock again on the gate. My attendant being away on leave, this knock too had to be attended to by me. I found it was the same boy again. I thought he is asking for more money and I obliged him once again but he was not leaving and repeatedly used his gestures to communicate something to me which I couldn't follow. By now I had lost my patience thinking that like many others possibly he too was a cheat. I asked him to go back with some thrashings. He got nervous but picked up some courage again trying to convey some message by use of his gestures showing a small piece of a dust laden paper which he picked from the garbage nearby. Again I failed to follow insisting that he should leave. He left.
While going through my papers on the table I came across a tiny sized small note. Infact this was the note of request he had written in his hand for help or may be this was the one he got some one to prepare for him. Instantly it struck to my mind that what he was insisting through his gestures and a speechless language was to return that piece of paper to him obviously for the purpose that he could use it for similar help from others as whatever little amount I gave him was not sufficient enough to meet his agonising pain of hunger or may be he was to manage some food for some hungry loved ones like a mother, a sister at home. I feel guilty on not being able to understand him and am overgripped with a feeling of repentance.Handicapped he was hankering for love and affection and what he got from me at the end was just the opposite. I feel like tracing him some where offer my regrets and apologize.

She was an angel incarnate !
A serious doubt started lurking in the minds of the people including brother of Lord Buddha himself about his credentials and bonafides as a saint Divine after he returned on attaining enlightenment –the reason being his soft corner for a woman –none else but Amrapalli, the one who had no parallel in beauty but was forced by the then elder men in the society to lead the life of a prostitute. Her request to Lord Buddha to visit her palatial house was affirmatively nodded by him and this caused all hue and cry.Buddha, the Enlightened, addressed them and storm of suspicion was visible no where after he,who was by then recognized by everyone as the one capable of seeing the past, the present, the future, narrated about what Amrapalli was in her earlier birth as a bird and that she was the serenemost a person with noblest soul on earth. This was the bird that got perished trying to save others. Her physical apparel could be any thing but in her actions and thoughts she is the one thoroughly chaste and pure concerned always for others.
A miniatured version of the story runs like this:
One of the creatures in a dense forest with a river flowing in the midst of it was a tiny bird.Drought occurred with famine of high magnitude.Fire brokeout engulfing all. Total inhabitation was at a collapsing point with dwellers running helter skelter to save their children against fire which nearly engulfed them leaving no time gap for them to escape.Nothing was there and the fire was assuming aggressively aggravating proportions set to devour the entire forest. The bird started dropping herself into water in the river flying back fully drenched to the top of the trees fluttering her wings and squeezing water therefrom to soften the flames. The God of rains Lord Indra laughted at her calling her action as ridiculous pointing out how silly it was on her part to show audacity against mighty flames. Reply of the bird was ‘you and the other Gods have the capacity to play any havoc or if it so pleases you you can equally remedy it by causing rains but since you care damn for others on earth you would’nt do it. I as one have to continue my efforts to do whatever little I can till the last breath of my life’. In the process the poor bird accepted being reduced to ashes.
