P.M.’s Teachers Day speech–action against defaulters:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on the last Teachers Day was a great hit but several of the schools in the country defaulted in its proper implementation –some on the ground that they had no necessary paraphernalia available with them for the purpose and some wilfully including those for political prejudices. Certain political parties openly opposed the programme. The government has now come out with a threat of action against those schools who defaulted. Since it was an official programme where Prime Minister was involved, there should normally be no pertinent an excuse to play any defiance on the part of any body whether individual schools or the political parties but the question is whether any action taken in the matter can be a justifiable one, more so in the case of different political parties who feel that they themselves are all powerful to go the way they want and none is supposed to go against them. It has yet to be seen what a turn it finally takes.

Budget pinch in days to come:

Financial budget of Indian Union is due shortly and there are predictions as from experts in the field that it is going to be a hard one. Hard one because any developing economy can hardly afford a soft sort of budget. What is to be seen more closely is the extent to which it is hard. It was hardly ever in the past that didn’t hit hard the pocket of the tax payers –some Finance Ministers did it moderately and some like P. Chidambaram did it harshly with a deep prejudice against the tax payers. Need is one thing but getting personally biased or prejudiced against certain selected segments of the people is another. Chidambaram, the predecessor of the present incumbent Arun Jaitly, had a sort of sadistic pleasure in hitting the tax payers the hardest with actual need apart. Tax payers are normally prone to reconciling with need based taxes directly related to developmental plans but they find it unbearable if it is done with a prejudice unmindful of the tax payers plights. People of India including industrialists are holding their breaths watching as to what is there in store for them and such a suspense has to continue till such time the budget is out and declared on the floor of the Parliament. Let us wait and watch.

Modi, thy name is revolution, thy name is development. You are a great boon incarnate for the country. A great star on the firmament of Indian politics, you are the one who should have been there on the national scene at least a decade back. Unlimited timings of work with no weekly offs for your ministerial team and other functional agencies in the harness to ensure quick delivery of goods is an initiative healthy enough to leave a message for the people of the country that they are to be fully cared and looked after in the matters of their welfare and security. Planning rocket trains besides bullet trains to connect bigger centres of the country with one another is some thing that never struck the mind of your predecessors as they never took it as their direct concern like you are doing. They remained highly self centred hardly looking beyond their nose with people’s interest in mind. You have hoisted the flag of an all round development for the country as a whole without even an iota of discrimination or prejudice visible any where. Your indefatigable efforts aimed at building up the nation throwing a challenge to many of the countries globally are capable enough to create an unprecedented record in political history of India. The people of the country in turn are supposed to feel concerned with the security and health of yours and also your team. As an humble submission through this blog, let us earnestly suggest at least some break between different work schedules as against your pursuit for 24 hours work a day as some relaxation too is the part of work only because it is a factor that in fact boosts up the working efficiency further. Let us wish you to acquire laurels after laurels as from the people of India for the mission of service to the nation so undertaken by you.

Beware! Bloggers too may land in trouble:

An Indian University lecturer who was on his visit to Dubai on business visa was arrested by police there allegedly for the reasons that he wrote blog posts against a Dubai based University. As per reports, he had certain issues to settle with the University and at a stage the matter was referred to the court which gave its judgement in his favour. He, however, continued writing his blog posts against the University even after there was court’s decision in his favour. It’s still quite vague as to what were specific charges against him for which he was arrested by the police and kept him in their custody for nearly 2 weeks time before he was granted bail. He might have expressed his grievances against the University in any manner specific or otherwise, but what was wrong there and what were the laws of the land he defied? Does it mean that there too there is nothing like freedom of speech or expression of one’s views on some subject or the other? Apparently as it appears, the lecturer concerned is the victim of some other prejudice on the police agenda; if not, it is too much of a witch hunting against him.

If there was a shop in the market selling happiness!

Like there are many a things in the world which can’t be purchased against any price, happiness too is something which one can’t buy as a composite item from any shop in the market. Happiness is a combination of several factors. It’s just not like going for some purchase of a laptop or a car that gives me a satisfaction of owning them, or it’s not like seeing some movie and draw a frugal momentary satiation. If heart works virtually in a coherent collaboration with mind and mind itself is free from any strain or tension, the newly acquired things mean a double pleasure. If mind is not free from several encumbrances like pre-occupation by other extraneous factors like worries on different counts, the pleasure I may draw from acquiring some thing or the other, it just fizzles and fades out miles away obliviously going into nullity. Good health, a sound mind free from any kind of strain, and a heart that has no malice or a false prejudice, are the factors that bountifully attract happiness and peace. These factors have to be brought into a combination through the efforts made by the concerned person himself/ herself. Happiness is thus a phenomenon not just purchasable from the market, but a matter of self generation of the required situation for the purpose by the individuals concerned.

Laws and Rules by unilateralism

Laws are there and there are rules too. Their sanctity lies in the manner they are adhered to and implemented. There are people never tired of boasting that Law is supreme and that this is applicable to all in general without any prejudice or bias of any kind but scenario is just different when when it comes to practice. Varun Gandhi is booked under National Security Act (NSA) on the grounds that he got involved in criminal activities and that he instigated others for violence. Presuming for argument sake that Varun Gandhi might have done some sort of activities pointed out against him but is it that this has happened in this country for the first time. Incidents much worse than this have been happening in India every now and then at alarmingly a large scale and the guilty are left scotch free. If at all some mafia don is sent to jail for his criminal activities it is in most of the cases to enlist his support and the moment he agrees to offer it he is enrolled as a member of the ruling party and sponsored as a candidate to contest elections either at M.P. level or MLA/MLC level. The currently ruling Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati has already criminal proceedings against her pending and she has never been that prompt as in slapping NSA against Varun Gandhi for the obvious reasons that she wanted to encash the incident for her electoral advantages. Sanctity of the Law lies in its implementation in an honest manner uniformly and, if used dishonestly, the Law is no more as such, it is confined to serve the vested interests of a few only.

Sophisticated illicit gratifications

Highly welcome a pronouncement it was when Loksabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee gave a reaction to the effect that Sansad Nidhi (discretionery funds placed at the disposal of Members of Parliament) for promoting (or say otherwis) developmental activities in their constituencies require to be done away with. Certain exceptions apart, these funds are hardly used in positive directions, if practically used, as there are M Ps who are honest enough either not to use them at all or use them so much in a limited manner that any benefit going to public remains out of question. Those who use whose number is ofcourse big enough do so with an extraneous motive where their own interests are involved more than any interest to the people in general. Projects for the purpose are drawn based on their negotiations with the builders, the contractors, the gobetweens. If a park is renovated out of funds sponsored from MPs quota, big big stone boards in and around it are sure to comeup highlighting the great gesture of theirs in being kind enough to spare the funds as if they were their own and not out of public money. This is besides a large entry gate again in bold writings to propagate the high gesture of the MP concerned. All this looks like election campaign operating in the background. Why these funds can't be directed straight to the welfare of the people and why the job is channelised through them are the questions that hover into the minds of the public.

No compromise on merit !

Many an items are there in the market which are easily purchasable and every one does it to the extent his pocket permits. Merit is much different a phenomenon which one just honestly can't afford to purchase in an open market howsoever best he tries. People in politics are however an exception as they are the kind who can manage any thing like if some body doesn't fit into a job on merit pattern, there is a readily available device to reserve the post(s) for a particular category. This is not honest. Social justice is the need for every society but merit is an element which should not be compromised for the purpose as there are ample ways to bring upliftment to different low level layers of people both financially and otherwise. Sam Petroda, the head of Rashtriya Gyan Aayog opined the other day that it is unfair to force reservation in educational institutions for the simple reason that it only downgrades the merit. Opportunities must be offered for different caders of the society to get necessary education and training for a career building. These opportunities are a must no doubt for all those who have acquired necessary skill for the job not only by way of hard labour put in by them but more than that on the basis of the merit the candidates possessed. Reserve the scope to learn and get educated, don't reserve them by artifically adding extra marks to the candidates simply because they belong to a particular caste or creed.

Sanjai Dutt -a victim of prejudices!

Intentionally or otherwise something wrong did happen on the part of Sanjai Dutt for which he suffered so much in the hands of Law of the country. Hardly any one else could have been dealt with so harshly in a country like ours where there is an innumerable lot going scotch free after committing several heinous crimes and on that count there are mafias and ruffians particularly in the political field who are making the life of common people so miserable.Even if sent behind bar, what type of a luxurious life they are allowed to lead there in connivance with the administration is to every body’s knowledge.It’s not that whatever wrong Sanju Baba, a luminary figure in filmdom, might have done should be treated as something rewardable but the punishment he has already undergone is much enough and there it should end. Instead what is happening looks like a sheer witch hunting as if all unlawful activities shall stop taking place if Sanju is dealt with in a worst possible order. This all is infact a prejudice on the part of the authorities including those in judiciary –prejudice to the effect that Sanju being a great movie star and celebrity known well the world over, his clear acquittal may be taken by the people that it has been done so because he is most important a person in the country.This is unfair, this is a treatment highly unequal. Prejudice of no kind should be permissible to any one at any level –judiciary or administration.
